How to check my Internet usage

If you are a Telstra Bigpond Internet customer, you can check how many MegaBytes (MB) you have used out of your allowance this month. This helps you avoid any excess usage charges or having your Internet speed slowed down.

Simply visit http://www.bigpond.com

In the top right of the screen click on "My Bigpond" and log in using your username (normally your Bigpond email address) and your Bigpond password.

How to contact technical support and what they help with

Bigpond technical support can help if there are any problems or issues with your Bigpond Internet connection. This includes problems relating to the line, connection and your modem.

Bigpond offer limited support if the problem is due to a fault in your computer or other software installed on your computer.

In any case, always give Bigpond technical support a call on:

133 933

They will be able to help diagnose where the fault lies, and should be able to resolve it on many occasions.

Please note Telstra Shop staff have no access to Bigpond systems and are not able to provide technical support. This is because Bigpond have a specialised support department with fully trained technical staff.

My Wifi Internet keeps dropping out - helpful hints to reduce drop outs

Wifi Internet (the wireless Internet you can access around your home when you have a compatible Wifi modem) is a radio technology, and because of this some things can interfere. If you experience drop outs try some of the following tips:

  • Make sure your mobile phone and any Bluetooth enabled device are away from your Bigpond Wifi modem.
  • If you have a cordless phone it may interfere with your Wifi Internet connection. Normally 2.4Ghz cordless phones cause interference. We advise customers to purchase a different frequency cordless phone if they Wifi Internet at home. (eg: 5.8Ghz)
  • Make sure you aren't too far from the Wifi modem - the more walls between you and the Wifi modem, the weaker the signal. A weak signal can cause drop outs or slow Internet speed.
How to get additional Bigpond email addresses

If you are a Telstra Bigpond Internet customer, you normally receive a Bigpond email address with your account.
